Fantastic news for us here at The Toot Sweets Van and Trike! We have reached the finalist stage of the South West Wedding Awards which, for our first year of business is a wonderful achievement. The results will be in January so please keep everything crossed for us – if we don’t win then to have reached this finalist stage is brilliant and we are incredibly proud of how far we have come in this past year.
This year has been an amazing learning experience and we have attended some fabulous events and weddings with our vintage citroen H van and our rustic ice cream trike. Feedback from our private clients who have booked us for weddings has been incredible with great comments about the service, ease of booking, taste of the ice creams and boozy sorbet, the look and feel of the trike as well as the fun we have brought to their special day!
The vintage van has attended events and festivals over the summer/winter months and had repeat bookings as a result for 2017 – in addition having THE best coffee and hot chocolate on board has meant a lot of people have actually physically looked for us at events and we’ve had repeat custom – there’s quite a few regulars and familiar faces that we see regularly. What also makes us stand out is our attention to detail and only service quality produce (local as much as possible) for example if, when we make the coffee it isn’t right – it doesn’t get served to the customer and we start from scratch.
Events have been eclectic – Pride Weston-super-Mare, Dairy Fest, Bristol Air Cooled, Newt Beer Festival, Swindon Christmas Market, Barleywood, Backyard Outdoor Cinema, Mendip Mower Racing, Burnham on Sea Food Festival, Brew Festival, Clevedon Pier relaunch, Ham Hill Dogs Show, Viking Festival…. and many more this year with many more booked in for 2017. What a fantastic start to a new business launched in April 2016!
We have met some interesting and lovely people at the events and one of things we often receive feedback on is our friendly and fun disposition on the van – we don’t have misery faces – there’s always a smile and a friendly face on board and people respond and return for that reason too.
We always strive to bring something new to the van and for the Christmas period we will be serving Christmas tree shaped waffles with Belgian Chocolate which has been a big hit! In addition we’ve started serving home made mulled wine.
Products on board are as local to us as possible and we are keen to work with local suppliers as much as possible. To date we have Thatchers Ciders, Aldwick Farm Wines, Butcome Ales, Herby4 Apple Juices, Hullaballoos Lemonades, Granny Gothard’s ice cream. With our bar we buy locally flavoured gins, vodkas, brandy, rum and anything else we can find – all exceptional quality but more importantly LOCAL!
What also makes us stand out is our ability to adapt our service to suit the client’s needs. We don’t provide just the one service, we offer lots of options so our clients can choose exactly what they want and tailor our services to suit them.
So keep everything crossed for us – and hopefully we will update you on our results soon!
